Aluminium Strontium master alloys are widely used in structure modification of hypoeutectic Aluminium Silicon foundry alloys, making them stronger, improving their mechanical properties and producing a dispersion of their porosity. Aluminium Strontium is a very effective modifier transform the coarse plate-like crystals of silicon in to finely dispersed granular shapes. This improves mechanical properties and machinability. Being metallic modifier, the addition is safer and more effective compared to salts. Used for hypo-eutectic alloys only. AlSr can optimize the form and distribution of eutectic silicon, improve the material synthetic mechanical properties as well as minimize hot cracking tendency. Aluminium Strontium is in general in the forms of Cut Rod, Rod Coil, Waffle Ingots. The most common AlSr Grades are; AlSr3,5, AlSr5, AlSr10, AlSr15, that these numbers next to each grade are showing the Strontium content with the balance of Aluminium.
